For any assignment, you should follow these steps:
Define for yourself exactly all the things you need to find out. Start making a list of keywords which you will use to search for the specific pieces of information you need to complete the tasks in your assignment..
Locate
i) some quality books from a Library
Join Port Macquarie-Hastings Municipal Library and the State Library of NSW.The process is quick, easy and free.
Books help you to understand the context for the task you've been given. Books help you write your introduction and conclusion
ii) some quality websites.
You will need to evaluate the websites on your search engine's results list, prior to using them, for reliabilty, currency, relevance.
Select the information you need, systematically, for each of the tasks in the assignment. Create your Bibliography as you go: record the full details of each book and website you use as you use it.
Organise the information you have found, into the same order as the tasks are listed in your assignment. Keep in mind that this is the time when you have to think hard about the information you have found. Regurgitating information does not answer a question. You have to use HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) : demonstrate that you can answer each question by not only comprehending what you read, but by applying, analysing and synthesising what you've found out.
Present your information. Use both the task description and the marking rubric as a guide.
Assess for yourself how well you managed each step. Identify what you did well, as well as where you struggled. Resolve to ask for help, next time, in the steps where you had difficulty; that way, you'll become a more confident researcher with every assignment that you do.
