The Great Wall of China was built over centuries by China’s emperors to protect their territory. Today, it stretches for thousands of miles along China’s historic northern border.
The Great Wall of China is an ancient series of walls and fortifications, totaling more than 13,000 miles in length, located in northern China.
In c. 220 B.C., under Qin Shi Huang, sections of earlier fortifications were joined together to form a united defence system against invasions from the north.
